Hi Folks ,Got a problem with my charging on GS1000e replaced stator R/R and have done the ground points like ground r/r one to frame one to battery and even tried grounding to airbox screw still getting the same readings .at idle 1k 13+ volts at 2K 15.49 volts
at 5K 15.20 volts I am lost don't know what else I can do. somebody help Please !!!
Even at 1100 rpm its at 14+ volts .I used two different meters same readings also used
a different R/R no difference . New battery AGM I hate to ruin it . thanks for any help you can send my way .

Very interesting

Very interesting

I'll try and help if you do some measurements and report back.

Hopefully U have a digital meter that is polarity sensitive. If not you will have to reverse leads from below, just tell me how it was measured.

Assuming you have a DVM (digital volt meter)

measure Black at Battery (-) and Red at R/R (-)
measure Black at Battery (+) and Red at R/R (+)

Note the polarity of the voltages. You should even be able to confirm polarity changes by reversing the leads and see a positive voltage go negative or visa vera. Do both at idle and 4000 RPM.

This will help diagnose basic operation of the R/R.

I hope its right
1. black at battery - red at R/R - 1000x = -.008 4000x = -.019

2. black at battery + red at R/R + 1000x= 5.50 4000x = .257

thanks Rob

OK Sorry

OK Sorry

should have asked this in the beginning

* What R/R are you using?

* If a Honda R/R where is the 6th sense wire hooked?

* Are you sure of this?
2. black at battery + red at R/R + 1000x= 5.50 4000x = .257
perhaps this?
2. black at battery + red at R/R + 1000x= 0.50 4000x = .257

The other measurements seem good except for that in Red.

The OEM voltages ranges as per the manual actually go from 14.0 to 15.5 at 5000 RPM so it is possible that you have an OEM regulator that is charging a little highbut in spec. The charging system is loose after all.:(

Sorry Pos I should have known to tell you a honda I had the sensor wire hooked up with
Brake switch .I decided to use battery for Sensor wire now its working like a charm .
I guess it may drain battery so until a new fix happens I'll keep tabs on it .
or maybe I can find a newer Reg/Rec and try that . thanks for your help and will
keep an eye on your post's. Rob

I have re checked my bad reading of 5.50 at 1k AND .257 at 4K
this time after redoing my bullet conectors for the spade tupe

my new reading is black on battery + red on r/r +
1k= .002 4k= .004

black on battery - and red on r/r neg
1k = .002 4k = .002 this fluctuated up to .004

I hope its not a bad reading ??? thank you .

Are all the lights, including the rear running lights in the tail, working? A lack of load could cause the electrical system to run a bit high. Is your headlight on?

Overall I don't think you are too high yet. 17 is considered too high.

Are you measuring volts? You either did a remarkable job cleaning all of your connection or you had the meter on the wrong setting.

I had recommended getting below 0.25V and have seen measurements like 0.03V but 0.004v at 4K that is too good to be true. :(

Sorry, I would just double check how your meter was set.

I am back sorry but had the numbers wrong on black on battery + and red on r/r +
hoping this sounds correct at 1K = ,078 at 4K = .170

I also rechecked black on battery - and red on r/r - at 1K= .007 at 4K= .019

was also asked if lights were on, yes High Beam was on .

My battery voltage is now at 1k= 12.98 and at 5k =14.50 at highest reading
and did move my sensor wire to positive on battery I have noticed my
battery changed reading in a couple days from 13.09 to 13.04 .

My only reading I am positive to be right is on the battery LOL

thanks Rob

I should have known to tell you a honda I had the sensor wire hooked up with Brake switch

Go back and measure the brake light supply wire. I bet its not much more than 10vdc. Thats what caused my RR to regulate at 15.5vdc. I did a relay mod which got me back to 14.5vdc.
