A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.
Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.
Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...
If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.
If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Ta, I'm quite happy with that, as i said four hours of practice.
As to stick, yeah I had a go working with it and got fed up with it after burning through 3/4 a stick as it was just not working for me. The beauty of using mig is you just keep the torch about 10-15mm from the job and you only have to worry about keeping that distance, not having to continually adjust how far away you hold your hand from the job. It is simply one less thing to have to worry about, especially when you have enough things on your plate trying to figure out how to do it, learning about adjusting feed speed and amperage is enough to keep you confused (p.s. if you get one, a feed speed of 5-5.5 seems pretty spot on).
Then again, you can always buy the mig and have both, just use the stick when you feel like spattering stuff or if you just want to try and perfect the technique..
Seriously i would recommend either getting this one, or the weldpro one from bunnings, which at $199 includes a mini trolley too and is a lot smaller than the SCA one.
As to differences, care to elaborate? I must confess that I've not been on this forum much of late as ashamedly I've had little positive progress to boast about.
Also, I did go and buy a new pair of progressive fork springs and am awaiting their delivery. I am just going to throw them in "stock" with a bit of extra preload to account for the bike being about 20-25kg heavier than the bike they originated from and will see if that is enough as i think I cut my springs too short. The ride on the front is too roadbike & not enough dirtbike, even though i can take speedbumps at 50km/h and not be thrown off, it still feels too harsh for my liking.
Welding, you no longer are limited to opening new doors, you can build them.
Thanks, It's honestly the mig that makes this a lot better, I'm just the schmuck holding the torch. If you are willing to put it together and tack weld the major components together and bring it down here, sure i can't see why not.
Let me know how you go, I don't go back to work until the second.
