A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

It's been a long time between drinks, and the 250 has been sitting basically unused & unloved in the garage.

I need to pull a finger out and spend a couple of half days working on it. Namely bogging a couple of dints in the original tank and getting it all purdy like i originally intended. At this point I must admit the bash plate was a bit of an ambitious project and is not going to go any further/be added to the bike.

Once it's gotten a lick of paint on the tank (don't worry, it'll match the plastics), well then I need to find it a new owner as it needs to go as I've got two bikes in the garage and barely touched either and I've got to either keep the daily runner, or the project, no guesses on which I've elected to keep.

Another big factor in all this is my missus is now 7 months pregnant and I've barely had time to scratch myself since I found out in late December (Half the reason I've been absent from here & motorcycling in general is I've changed jobs & the other half is getting this place ready for the newcomer, lots of jobs around the home to do) and as she will be taking the family car during maternity leave (while she is at work she has a company car) and I need something to get me from a to b while she's playing missus mum that won't be as much of a reliability risk in the process (I'm not saying that the 250 isn't reliable, but it's more of a risk than a bike made 18 years later on).

Handing the keys to someone else, am I sad at the prospect? a little. Do I think I will regret it? No. I've gotten the bike working and working quite well.

Also when it goes It'll most likely be swapped back to the original spec as i suspect that as fun as it was to use in this configuration, I doubt I'll be able to get much interest in it in it's frankenbike condition. Besides I don't need the next owner blaming me for some disasterous crash and financially ruining me for the minor suspension mods that I made. I guess it was a good thing that I always kept an open mind about making the modifications reversable then, huh?

So yeah, slightly elaborate story, but an update either way.

So, anyone wanna buy a bike with a crapload of spares and extras (tank & all plastic, plus lots of other bits including a new speedo cable I bought 5 minutes ago to facilitate the shorter forks).

Hey Mike, good to hear from you! Must be the time for absent members to return... Collo just popped in for the first time in months too! Haha

So it's nearly "D" day hey? D is for daddy of course :p

Definitely show us when she's done before she goes to a new home too.

It's been fun following along and seeing the progress with the long travel suspension, you did a good job I reckon.

Keeping the daily rider makes sense and while my 450 has been good as a daily rider so far, I do understand what you mean about an 18 year younger bike...
