I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

GS1000G battery suggestions

My G has never let me down so far (touch wood) but I've noticed that the battery is getting tired & as such I guess is probably working the charging system hard.

So... suggestions please. The one in there is a "reasonable" wet battery but nothing special & has done me well for 2.5 years (it was quite new but TPO put it on there not me). So I'm guess it's 3 years old & it would probably push to at least another 6 months use at a guess but I don't want to push my luck.

My Skunk has a cheapy walmart on it, much newer though but maybe I'll buy in Bulk....

What's everyone using?

Anyone used this place? http://www.bikebatts.com

Dan :)

Price seems reasonable from bikebatts. I only compared the AGM battery that is in my wife's bike. Bikebatt has it for about $70, and that's about what I paid for it at Batteries Plus. I just looked at Batt Plus and see that the battery is on sale for $63 (that's 10% off).

I went AGM last time, and I'm really happy with it. It holds a charge a lot better than the wet ones.

Hi Mr. salty_monk,

I sprung for a Yuasa AGM battery from a local shop, for $80. It's been going strong for 2 years. (Let's hope I didn't jinx myself.)

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

AGM is the go.Absoloodle no doubt about it.Unbeatable cold cranking ability.Cheers,Simon.:)

+1, AGM is the place to be. You can even run a smaller than stock AGM battery to save a bit of weight. My 1000 with the 1100cc piston kit and lumpier than stock cams has no issues starting off an AGM battery designed for a GSXR 750 which trims about 5 pounds off the curb weight...

Another vote for the Yuasa YTX AGM battery.

Hey Dan,

What happened to that battery from the 1000GL? No fit?

A very timely thread. My 550ES is up for a new battery. Looks like there's no question as to what juice box to get.

Thanks!

Hey Dan,

What happened to that battery from the 1000GL? No fit?

I still have it but it won't fit, too tall & I'd have to do some wiring work to reverse the terminals.

I still have it charged & on the shelf if you find a use for it....

Guess I'll have a look around for an AGM. Is the model numbering system the same as the wet batteries? (I might pick one up for a 550E at the same time).

Dan :)

I'll say this again, and you can laugh if you want. I just bought my second WalMart Ever Start. The first one lasted since 2001. Of course it stays in the basement (with the bike) over the winter and I keep a trickle charger on it. But, for $36.00 and the past history of the first one, why not try it again.
