A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I have a GS1000G and bought a mint set of GS1000L carbs to replace mine.
As far as I can see everything is exactly the same apart from:- on "G" carbs there is a air setting screw in the front (close to intake)
On the "L" there is no screw! just a small cover with a small hole!
How do I fine tune these carbs????????????
I got it running, but it smokes a bit! It's too rich! I need to lean it out!
Any ideas? Phil.

Hi

Try to remove the plastic cover and look underneat.
I have been a cover on the other carbs as vell.

Hi

Forgot to tell, the screw is adjusting the gas, not air.

Turning it out gives more gas.(petrol)

Still GS1000GLx

They are not plastic, I'm sure it's a pressed in metal cap, If I prize it out....will there be a SCREW underneath it??????????
Because if there isn't, it's going to look a mess all scratched up after I spent so much time rebuilding the engine and looking like new!

If there is a screw under there, can I adjust them out to lean it out???
As I rebuilt the engine and have 180lbs (each cylinder) and it's smoking and really wont idle (tick over) 100%. Phil.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Thats how I do it! thanks that helps 100%

The little cover is on some models so that the idle mixture could be factory set to match pollution controls, and the user could not interfere with it. Removing it so you can adjust/tune the mixture these days is normal.

Perfect! I drilled out the caps and located the screws!!
So, as soon as my tank comes back from the painters I will be getting the carbs tuned up!
By the way! all the screws were tightened down and only had 1.5 turns out......

Once the tank comes back and all the other stuff I will be posting PICS.
Hopefully within 2-3 weeks.
