A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Nicely done! That is a good looking monster cafe racer. The only thing I would suggest is swap out the airbox for some pods. Saves weight and more power. Both ideal in a true cafe bike

Looks good though. Way better than a stock "L", forgive me for doubting your ability :o

Pods would be nice but from what i've read they can be a pain. PO installed a vance and hines 4-1 and I don't know what he has done to the carbs. Wouldn't it need jetted or something?

Jetting

Jetting

Yea you would most likely have to change the jets for pods to run properly. But it would be cool. Something to think about for future upgrades maybe.

Very nice bike....I just purchased an '82 1100 GK and was thinking of a modified cafe project. You have given me a ton of good ideas

I have almost eliminated my back firing by doing a once over the airbox.

I applied new weather stripping, found my stock air filter wasn't seated in it's cradle on the left side of the box. Checked airbox boots and tightened all exaust bolts. That vance and hines 4-1 is an awsome sounding pipe I have to say.

Photbucket up and running.
Here are some bigger pics. enjoy.

Found a loose universal joint flange on the bike. Bolt loosened and splines are a mess. have a used flange on the way. Man...I thought I was done!

Well since the bike will be down for a couple days I've removed all the case covers, headlight ring, chrome bolts and cam covers. I don't want chrome on the bike so I'm sanding these chrome parts to look like brushed aluminum. It takes alot of time to remove the old clearcoat.

The gravel and sand will be upset, it will be much harder to get into your eyes.

Ill maybe get in to getting the fender shaped and mounted tomorrow...been under the weather. I cut all new gaskets for side cases with th 1/32 (12" x 36" roll) from Advanced Auto. Only $6.40. Side cases are back on. I don't like the way the connections look for the stator wires to the harness so I might just hard wire them too.

I must say I was broken hearted when I saw what you were gonna cut up. I have a real fondness for the 1100 L, dream bike as a 16 y/o. I must say though you have done it justice, nice, very nice indeed...
