    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Love it. so sick! Great job. I would have kept it all red though.
 
Still gotta hack up the seat and eventually will be all one color, black, red or silver? Maybe black out the motor too.

The look of stubby exhaust pipes/mufflers is growing on me.
My personal choice of paint...black is beautiful.
 
That's a very cool bike. I think it might look better with the side covers. The tank and the tail section need to be connected and it would hide what's behind them. Red would be a great color to contrast with the polished bits and the black that's already there.
 
ok at risk of sounding noobish...I see that the battery is installed on its side. does this not affect anything? never seen it done that way so im curious
 
What a beautiful result! Thanks for the progress report. How does it run with the pod filters on those CV carbs?
 
You STILL haven't given us more details on the FZR pipe! Is the spacing correct for the GS head or did you have to "convince" it to fit? Thanks, Ray.
 
Nice look; The bars and lights look very clean. I have to say the open side panels look a little unfinished and I'm really starting the hate the look of the OEM seats after getting used the the curvaceous Corbin seats.

I struggled with some similar issues trying to streetfighter a fully faired GSXR100G. I took the liberty to try a few things; take a look and see if it gives you any ideas.

I left the black tail as I think you are trying to tie in the flat black fender. At the same time the think I love about the E is the side cover curves. I abbreviated them (needs some fiberglass body work of course and some improvised tabs).

That is supposed to be an all black Corbin streetfighter.

Any way, I'm really impressed with the over all look and mono shock upgrade. Still wanting to know more about the pipe. :rolleyes:
 
The FZR pipe had to be "convinced" to fit ala 1/2 here, 1/2 there ==> insert pipes into tube + friend = fitment and elongated the flanges. They have clearance for the filter and drain plug.
 
Corbin-like seat needed big time, thanks for the photo. Looks good. Seat and panels are something to do over the winter.

that's a sealed battery. If it was a standard acid battery, then no, DO NOT lay it on it's side.

So, if it has a vent tube, do not lay it over.
 
thanks for that info. definitely makes sense. just never thought about it. knowing this though, helps me with clearance issues ive run into tinkering with my 850

I've taken a few rides on it already. It handles and brakes like my buds R6 and SV1000. The farther back pegs feel just right, confortable. Turns like nothing. All specs set up like a 2008 Gsxr 1000. I had an issue with the Suppertrapp, so far 12 discs on plus the endcap. Now all of a sudden I've lost ignition to cylinders 2 and 3. Gonna check the coils tomorrow. I have a relayed coil setup. And gotta check my clutch out slips at about 3500-4000 rpm. I already have the HD springs, nice hand workout. When I got the bike there came 2 sets of clutches. Gonna go thru and mic all the best pats together and rough up the metal discs, of course after F'ing with the coils. I have a made up harness, none of it factory, thank God.
 
I would like to mod my tail to Zweihammer's idea, cut it and shorten it up.
Seems to be the general consensus around here to those who mod...

I always liked the 81 tails anyway.
