Am I going crazy or does this decal (from decal reproductions):
suz2_gs1100tank_rd.gif

not the actual stock decal that is found on the 82 GS1100E maroon....

I called reproduction decals and they insist it is. But .... it seems to me th suzuki decal has a thicker white stroke around the word suzuki than repro's decal. Repro said the stroke is silver, not white. Has anyone ordered this decal and can maybe clue me in to the truth. thanks

The bottom two bikes are 83 1100s. Completely different colour. They are blood red. Not maroon.

true, good call.

here is the decal from repro for the 83

almost the same..... thin stroke.

Another twist.

I know there are small differences . When I was going to order the Red decals for my ED, the decal was like you showed with the thin red line.

As it turns out I scraped the old decal off to find that mine was actually clear and so the redline was actually the paint color showing through the decal.

They modified the decal to match mine original (with the thin clear border) ; I dont know if that became their base model for the Red ED.

Pos,

did your decal you received have a thick white stroke around the "suzuki" like we see on all the noted models?

IIRC, I think it is actually silver, then real thin clear then the black.

basically I am throwing on glossy cleared black body work. I was hoping the stroke around the "suzuki" decal would be thick enough as to not lose the integrity of the word suzuki against the black.

do you have a higher rez photo of the profile of your bike?

This is the best I can do at the moment (see attached). The silver outline will be pretty pronounced.

You can just make out the red showing through the clear.

I'm pretty sure the 82 red color they had had a red line so that would look sharp if you are all blacked out (if you like that sort of thing)

cool, that works. thanks

well the 82 decal looks like it has an orange line

the 83 looks red

I think I'll go with the orange.

thanks for the help pos

The 83 is red because it is clear and the under color shows through
