If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

I had the crazy idea of turboing my gs1100L. I was hoping that there is some information some where around here or a well documented build.

Is it possible to turbo a motor with stock internals and run a safe-low boost? I'm not sure what the stock compression ratio is. Also, I have never rejetted carbs, so how would i know which main jets I should run at a certain boost level or with mods taken into account? Is anyone selling premade turbo manifolds for these? Would this be a better project for the 16valve motor? Just kind of brain storming here.

Thanks in advance.

the company mr turbo (mrturbo.com) has a complete kit for $3995. and all the info you want. they are offering garrett units instead of ray jay these days.

a EGT or AFR unit such as a WEGO III will make jetting easy as possible.

I had a turbo Yamaha xs1100... jetting is easy because there is only one carb...
It was a blast. I beat the snot out of it and is still stayed together...until the middle drive took a dump at the track...It was mostly stock and ran 9.20's in the quarter mile. It did tend to make the pistons egg shaped each year...And the funny thing is it was a Mr. Turbo unit...

9.20s, that is intense... Were you running the stock swingarm? Did you manage to keep the front wheel down? how much boost were you running?

I have a gs 11ET with an old-school Blake setup. Owned it for over 30 years. It's really tough to ride it in a sane manner. Hard on clutch and baskets, especially if you have a stock crank. If the tire ever hooks, the crank is spagetti. The fun starts when the bubbles start rising in the fluid filled boost gauge. Then it's hang on. My 'Busa is faster and easier to ride, but there is only one other thing that feels as good as when the boost comes on! You figure it out.

That was an excellent description all around. I enjoyed reading that.

I owned a 2007 cbr1000rr for a while. That bike was great, but I couldn't hold it until redline because I was too scared to ride a wheelie. I am more of a go fast in the turns rider. It would be nice to find a turbo bike that didn't run into this problem without needing an extended swing arm. I guess that's the nature of the beast though.

Garrets don`t fit to well in the frame. Rajay is the best for a GS frame only bad thing is Rajay is no longer in buisness. Find a used set up on e-bay.

Finished product. Running only 9 psi of boost with a 1229 with 10/1 compression. Crank is Gardner double pinned and welded with a straight cut gear on the crank for the clutch. Use a lock up clutch or you will destroy the plates. You will also have to put a timming retard on the ignition to make it work good with a Dyna 4000 ignition. Hope this helps.

A thing of beauty Kris!
Are you going to instal some kind of heat shield for the spaghetti lines above the collector?

Eric

Thanks Eric, Not required, it does not get that hot. I have about 10000 miles on it so far and no problems.
