A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

too bad you couldn't get a replacement battery for the one you cooked, sort of say it was defective....?

hahaha.
That would be dis-honest, something I am very cautious in not being :)

I hear ya, I wasn't meaning you to be dishonest, let them make the call if it can be claimed or not, give them the details on what happened, you never know.

Yeah true, other issue is they are in the states, and it would take a week or two to get it. i really want to try and get this thing registered on the road asap...

With the Honda SH232, I didn't tap in the sense wire. I thought, this just tells the unit when the bike is on or off. I didn't realise it uses the cable as a guage to how much current is passing through the system and adjusts as required.
So the system thought it was getting nothing, hence why it kept pushing current through.

i only realized this accidentally when i unhooked the sense wire to see what happens and the voltage went up to 17V. oops :o

This mod serves no purpose other than to look cool and provide me with some useful statistics on my oil pressure...

Loving your thread.

Ok, talk to me about this. I'm going to do this on my 850. Would love to be able to monitor my oil pressure. Did you get these separate or together? Where did you get them? Do you know what size the fitting is on the motor side?

Hey!
Thanks man.
Ok so its a total kit. Its hard to get a unit that displays pressure so low, as the GS's run low pressure.

The guy that sells them is on this forum somewhere, but I bought it on ebay! same guy...

here you go.
It will fit your bike :)

I actually use it quite a bit to make sure i have enough pressure at idle and through various rpms. and u can see it easily while riding.

enjoy!

The above oil pressure gauge, where does this get installed, (yes I know on the engine) but more specifically, and can I do one on my 750 ? Not sure where to put it, or would I need to drill and tap a hole somewhere ?

EDIT - followed your link to the product, I think I understand now where it goes......Thanks

Great, thanks for your help. I'll be picking one up in the near future. That will be a sweet little addition.

You are now talking to one Roadworthy GS1100g. The bloke was a laugh. Took 2 hours to get as we were gas-bagging for a long time.
There was even almost a fight with some bloke trying to scam the shop for a free tyre.
I had to grab the owner and walk him inside and tell the bloke to nick off and be on his bike. The owner thanked me for taking him away because he was firing up.

But all in all the roadworthy went well. Was a few items on the bike that needed attention, but they were not roadworthy items, stuff like adjust your clutch lever etc.

Rego booked in for Thursday

So happy.

Thanks flyboy :)
I did a few more hours work on her today improving bits and pieces. I"ll post some pics up its 3.30 am here and i have work soon! :O

Rode the GS into work today.
Was exciting to ride it for 1 hour straight. Damn these things vibrate alot! IM still shaking! hahaha

Need to adjust my handlebars down a little, they are a bit sore, my wrists that is.

Few things i noticed
when the bike is fully warmed up the oil pressure gauge at idle shows almost 0 PSI.
when i rev it, its goes up so its got pressure. Is this normal to run such low psi, of course the gauge could be inaccurate.

Also the temp is really hot, when moving its 75 degrees when stationary it goes up to 140-160. I know thats really hot, is it normal, i know its air cooled etc, but I was worried. Maybe im stressing over nothing.
never had a bike this old b4.
