oh a question for the queensland aussie lads

any one know of any mechanics and or someone who knows how to do good motor work around the coast or lower brissy who would be interested in cash work and or profit sharing with all the bikes i buy (my mechanic down here just passed away last month so at a bit of a loss)

Nice one Wassa, extra parts are always good!

Good question on the mechanic... I only know of guys like Joe Marshall and suspect that's probably not going to help... last I heard he was booked for months!

There is a guy that runs another forum I'm on who is supposed to be good (never met nor used him) called Ozzy (http://www.ozracing.biz/) but not sure if he's south enough for you etc.

I'll inquire over on the Kat forum if I remember too... oh and there's a fella over there chasing a Kat 750 frame only as well, has all the other bits just missing the frame.

cheers mate but looking for some one who wants to get into bed with me so to speak ( business start up i'm at the stage i need someone who wants into it )

on another note got the 1100 motor firing in the 850 frame she will run no probs just have to clean the carbies out :D

and rang the bloke with my other carbs that where supposed to be shipped last monday - he only shipped them yesterday lol but means fingers crossed i will have two running 1100s on weekend ;) - will run the both up to temp and see how they go no smoke all good smoke mmm rip em apart and start rebuild lol

Good stuff mate, let me know if you wanna get rid of one of the 1100 motors hey? I'd dearly love one to graft into my 850.

I'm just South of Sydney.

- boingk

mate i will prob sell the 850 with the 1100 in it as a running bike once im finished doing mine will have every thing to have her including spares by the time im finished

Got ya' Wassa... and in that case nup don't know of anybody at present...

Glad to hear you got her running! Now the real fun begins hey?

want to put a NOS wiring harness on her but do you think i can find one

any one know where there is one available ?

Oh by the way she runs smoked up for the first firing let her run up to temp stopped her let her cool down guess what NO SMOKE so should have a good enough motor for now (evil grin)

Mick Hone lists the '84 model harness... $273.50

No idea if it's still actually available or not but they don't have any in stock...

Nothing on eBay but you can try a wanted post on here and also Tiaro motorcycle wreckers.

Also Old Gold spares maybe?

have a dilemma guys

the two 1100s are far from any where near the road

but just got a gs850 79 model roll in the door kick start and all got her running easy and looks like shes all their

now have to decide whether to keep the two 1100s that need major work and so far only cost 1500 for both bikes and heaps of parts

or sell them of for what i payed for them and do the old 850 mmmm lost

I'd be tempted to stick with the plan of getting one custom 1100 going... then do the 850 as a resto maybe...

Keep the other bikes. Shaft drives are the worst and you'll regret keeping it down the road when you actually want to upgrade any part of it. Shaft drives seem to limit what you can do with a bike quite a bit

they are all shaft drives

also i have a single car garage so keeping all is not an option

slept on it and the 79 850 is staying listed the other two pluss parts on fleabay for a buy it now of 1500 but prob let em go at 1200 as the motor in the grey one rocks.

and getting another one down the track isent a problem as ibuy and sell bikes all the time.

the kick start swayed me LOL ;)

Aaaah you almost have as little space as I do! I have a workbench in front of one car and just enough room to squeeze the bike in between the garage door and the back of the car...

Sounds like a good call too...

they gone now heading for melbourne to one of the vintage and japanes guys so good home

now for more 850 fun and i mean fun

ordering parts atm mate :)

rear ends been done about to start on front end

and should have a loop for rear by saturday so i can build a seat for her
