    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Did some more preliminary checking out of my 1983 GS1100G motor that will be replacing the stock engine in my 1980 GS1000G. Looks like the stator is toast since all three polls read about 24K ohms to ground. When I checked to see if my 1000G stator would fit I find that Suzuki has a different part number. The 1000G uses 31401-49310 while the 1100G uses 31401-09300 which superseded part number 31401-49410 . When I check the 1100E I see that, for the same year, the "D model" uses the 09300 stator while the "Z model" uses the 49310 version. To make thinks even more confusing, Electrosport uses the same part number ESG024 for both the 1000G and the 1100G. What is the difference between the 49310 and the 09300 (49410) and are they swappable?
 
Measure the diameter and thickness of stator- probably the same excerpt for connector length. Check with Steve for good old rewound in USA and skip the Chinese electrosport stuff.
 
Yes, please measure the inner and outer diameters and the thickness of the stator.

Currently (pardon the pun) out of your size, but am expecting a new batch of stators any day.

I compared my GS1100G stator with one I pulled from my GS1000G and found only one difference. The outside diameter and inside diameter were the same along with the thickness at the center but the thickness at the outer edge was significantly different. Almost looks like wings added. Here they are side by side with the 1100G on the left and the 1000G on the right. It does look like both are either aftermarket or rebuilt units:

If the dimensions are pretty much the same, is it the same number of poles?
If so the Suki part numbers might be different due only to different connecotors.
Such as individual bullet connector verse a square multi connector. ... either of which you maybe cutting off anyway.

I think all 1980s had individual bullet connectors (that most folks cut off anyway) and most 82 and after had the multi connectors.

Other concern might be that rubber gasket thingy on the cable... I do not know if all models that would be the same or not, just a thought don't really know. (Steve is usually pretty good at correcting me if needed.)


Stock stators have different colored leads, to match the bike wring.
Aftermarket stators usally have all yellow wires, some have black wires.

Now Steve... Would that be one of yours perhaps? Does this mean you have the large 18 poles in stock now?

Although the part numbers are different, I believe that the 1980+ 1000G and the 1100G do share a common stator with only possible wiring differences.
 
Yes, that would be one of "mine", but from a previous batch.

Don't have ANYTHING in stock right now, still waiting for a box from the re-winder to show up any day.

I have even sold the one I was holding for myself to put in "Junior", but since he won't be on the road for another week or three, I kept another GSer on the road, instead.
