A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Define nice grips. The standard in the world today is 7/8" bars, going to 1" bars will limit your choices unless you only want the ugly cruiser stuff. I would look harder for grips that suit before I went to the trouble of messing with all my controls just to get different grips. If nothing else, sleeve the 7/8" bars up to 1" and put your 1" grips on that...

ya i could sleave them. the only 7/8th grips i can find local are the cheep foam ones. online i cant find any that dont look cheep.
all the quality grips iv seen are for 1"bars. arnt all the new metric cruisers all 1" bars.

Again, define quality. I use nothing but Pro Grip gel grips on my street bikes and they are available everywhere. Last well, good price, nice and tacky and absorb vibration well.

I expect most all the cruisers are 1" bars because HD uses them and they all want to be like HD.

Edit - Here is a picture and details for the Pro Grips http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/1/4/68/4505/ITEM/Pro-Grip-724-Dual-Density-Road-Grip.aspx

If you want to get the look of the black crinkle paint on HD engines & side covers, buy the actual HD brand black crinkle paint. It is THE best product you get get at their dealership. I've used it a number of times & always had great results. If you want a lot of crinkle, do a number of light coats about 20 minutes apart so it has time to do its crinkle thing.. Once it is on there, you can use it for touch up later and will match up perfectly.

I wish I knew who actually made it, so I could save a couple bucks a can though.
