GS1150 Clutch Job, any recomendations on parts and best prices?

Hey GSr's, Im doing a clutch rebuild on my trusty 1150, friction plates and springs are out of spec according to my book, any suggestions on a good replacement brand or place for great prices? Ill probably order from my local Cycle Gear because I have a coupon and they carry Barnett parts...

also does anyone have some suggestions on what else to check while Im in the clutch basket? I do have a newer cable so Im good there, all I plan on changing is the friction plates and the springs...thanks...

Barnett plates SUCK & are not good for your clutch hub! Call Fast By Gast at 800-866-3880 & order the fibers from them. They will cost you 9 bucks each & are the best fibers you can get. They are stock thickness on the tangs & won't gouge your hub. Call me at 714--356-7845 if you ever need help or have questions. I specialize in 1100s & 1150s & build & race them. Ray.

ok...what about springs? this is a daily driven bike, not racing it ...

Hi Mr. asbjones,

The stock Suzuki springs or EBC are usually recommended. The APE springs will give you Popeye arms.

I predict this threat will reach 100 count; It is amazing but history does not lie because READING is a apparently a lost art

He doesn't have a coupon for FBG.
Go with stock Suzuki or FBG. I've had luck with EBC fibers but not after I built a stronger motor.
EBC springs and stock springs are fine also. Barnett (or Ape) springs are very stiff and are hard on the hand in traffic.

thanks guys! OK... so I picked up some EBC springs and EBC plates from my local shop and they work great, one of my old plates had no material left on one of side of it...
so Now I'm onto other things with the bike like the clutch basket rattling, I was on the GSR before a guy said I need to have the basket "balanced"...
and my front brake fluid reservoir see thru thing is leaking and looks very brittle, maybe have it filled in with brazeing rod material? (I dont need to see my fluid level I can just check it)
theres a new list of "fit it" things thats growing and need attention...
but the bike runs strong and starts everytime with ease...

My brake cylinder is the same and hasn't been a problem.
Did you try to tighten down the clutch hub?
If so on these old stock hubs the springs come loose on the backing plate and rattle like hell and will eventually spin out and cause havoc.
APE makes a aftermarket plate that you can put on.
