Gs1150 Lock up clutch

Seems I cant get the clutch on my 1150 to stop slipping after about 5-10 min of riding it heats up and starts to slip after about 8 or 9000rpm going from 1st to 2nd,I put a MTC lock up clutch on the bike and it didnt seem to slip anymore,only problem is when over 5 grand you cant seem to pull in the clutch lever,a little weird feel on the street.Does anyone have a stock clutch or aftermarket that holds up to a built 1150 around 150hp without a lockup feature?Or do i have to get used to not pulling in the clutch until the engine is below 5000rpm?Any input would be great.

My turbo GS1100 has about 150hp on the wheel and stock clutch with stiffer springs held that fine. Just make sure that everything is on perfect condition. Fresh fiber disks, check that steels are flat and maybe get them bead blasted, everything moves smoothly and so on.

Later I installed a lockup to get rid of stiff springs. I put in old stock springs and installed just a bolt and nut on each arm. With this setup the clutch is very light to use and holds well. I haven't noticed much difference in lever force even at top end. Only drawback is that the clutch doesn't disengage completely above 8000rpm even if I pull the lever.

I think race clutches are kind of a pain on the street. start with no weight on the arms. creep up from there until you get the clutch tune up you like the feel of.

Without the lockup you can shim the springs to add more static.

If the lockup is too much take weight off the arms or totally remove some of the arms. Just keep the arms balanced. So a 5 arm lockup you can take off 2 and run only 3 of them spaced evenly around.

Sorry to be negative here Jay but those thinner plates that are required to get the "extra" plate in there are what notch up & destroy the clutch hubs. Use either STOCK Suzuki fibers or the Fast By Gast fibers to keep from notching your clutch hubs. You won't find any Pro Stock, Pro Mod, Funny Bike, or Top Gas bike using those thinner plates. There is a reason. As far as the slippage goes, that is all in the static pressure & getting the weight on the arms correct. Once you get it sorted out you will love the lock up because you can go soft springs & have good lever feel & still get all the lock up you need. Ray.
