I got my 1150 transmission yesterday in the mail!!! As some of you guys know, I recently did a complete bike overhaul and rebuilt the engine. When I was inspecting the transmission, I found that two gears had pitting on the teeth. Fortunately, I had a transmission from the bottom end I received from Mark (Shaftzuki). It was a very nice transmission with back-cut dogs and I figured it would be great in the 1100. I put it in and when I finally got to take the first ride it was sweet!!!! I went up through the gears and it shifted VERY smoothly and was a dream! BUT (notice a very large but) it was a pain down shifting. Hmmmmm, drag bike transmission, made to go up through the gears, hmmmmm.
Well, I've been riding it but modified my riding technique when it come to slowing down. I don't down shift much and just work around the ornery transmission.
What I plan to do is replace the transmission without tearing down the top end. I'm going to pull the motor, remove all the bolts that hold the cases together and pull the bottom case off. Then I can access the transmission and change it. It's kind of like doing heart surgery through the rectum. 8O
