A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Where can I buy a replacement '81 GS450L Foam Air Filter element?

No joy there for the 450.

Can I switch to the Pod Filters and loose that "air box" completely?

35mm ones?

Depends, if you have the orginal Exhaust or 4 in 1. Either way you are looking at having to rejet b/c the pods will result in it running lean. What you would rejet it to would be up to someone else on here b/c I'm not as familar with the sizing for your size engine.

maybe you can ask me to buy 1 for you.

USD 2.00 ~ shipping would be ~3 to US :)

I just change the airfilter for my bike GS450L 2 week ago.

GS450L is a twin.

It's already running too lean and I suspect air chamber/filter leakage.

I've rebuilt the carbs and I'd just as soon switch to pods if it's within tolerance range of air/fuel adjustments.

Cycle/recycle states in their parts listings "Twins and 550 and smaller Honda fours usually do not need jetting".

Help! Experts?

Your local Suzuki dealer has them. I think I only paid $10 for mine last year. Many of the dealer websites have a Parts Fische section to let you find all the little things you need. My dealer actually has a pretty good turn around time on orders too.

I'm in the mountains of North Carolina. My "local" Suzuki dealer is in a hardware store in Mountain City Tennessee. I'm lucky to get the right oil there.

bgmart, gspaul, anyone? where are you? [-o<

Still running stock airbox. I think others with 450's have done pods and it required jetting. I wanted to do it but haven't decided to take the plunge. I kinda like riding rather than jetting headaches.

Bike Bandit has stock elements: part no.483748-001 $8.93.
Alpha Sports has them: part no. 13781-44100 $10.70.
Dennis Kirk has K&N Oval pods for $84.something

I am sure with all companies you'd have to see if they are in stock...
