I did a forum search but couldn't find my answer....I'm working on my '82 GS450L carbs (CV BS34SS) and didn't see an allen screw on the rubber intake manifolds to remove for hooking my carbtune synch hose and brass connector to do my carb synch. It only has 2 carbs and I bench synched for now after disassembling, soaking/cleaning, and re-assembling. I'll be doing the valve clearance maintenance next but am wondering about the synch procedure for these twins when I get to remounting the carbs later.

Well I think I found my answer searching elsewhere on the web. Screws are located on side of the head just ahead of the carb intake manifold facing outboard. I'll have to check later and confirm.

Yep, spot on, side of the head.

I did the synch just a few weeks ago with my Christmas present Carbtune Pro :D

Few more pic's and a couple of vid's here from my 82 450E if it helps:

Oh, and when you say 450L project... does that mean there'll be a project thread with lots of pic's? ;)

Edit: Ignore the oil on the head... damn Athena valve cover gasket is getting tossed this week once the genuine one arrives.

Found them, thanks....once I put some light on the situation, with the dirt and rust they kind of blended in!
Had to use the impact driver and PB Blaster on the 2 phillips head screws, but they came out. Certainly easier than the 4 banger Zooks I've worked on for setting up the carb tune.
These 450 carbs aren't the easiest to work back in. I lubed up the intakes and airbox boots, squeezed the airbox as far back as possible with the battery removed after taking the 4 mounting screws out for the airbox, and removed the 4 screws to the top carb/throttle bracket to remove it to allow a tedious insertion! Then with some fiddling was able to remount that bracket. I tried for 20 minutes before, but gave up as the bracket was hanging my manuevering up just enough...and I came in from the right side while sitting on the bike without the seat and tank on...and I thought a little twin would be easier for pulling the carbs! I had removed the bracket first when taking the carbs out too after 30 minutes of cussing, so I guess it wasn't going to go in any easier.
The bike fired right up as I couldn't wait to see if it runs. I'll do the final synch and adjustments after my valve adjustments sometime this week I hope. I'll have to re-snake the cables as the lower bars someone had replaced the original pull backs with are binding just a bit to hang the rpm's some.

Mate the 450 air boxes are cursed I swear! Now you know why I went K&N's...

Also, do yourself a favour and get new intake boots. I thought mine were ok as just a smidge of rubber grease was all that was required to get the carbs in.

However, first run showed up intake leaks (hanging idle) so new boots were the go, and man were those carbs so easy to get back on! Just slide right in the new rubbery goodness, no rubber grease required :D And at about $25 each from Boulevard it was worth every cent...

Not really a project, but a forgotten bike(only 9k miles on it) that I brought back to life and cleaned up a little...my maiden voyage today for a short 10 mile test ride. No hesitation, up through all 6 gears, to about 60mph and pushing 8k rpm in different gears....ran pretty good overall. Too much sand, melting snow making for lots of water and big cracks in the pavement already from frost heaves to push it any harder.
Fun little bike! Still have to check the valve clearances and check the carb synch, but here's a pic just before take off.

Good stuff Lurch, she looks pretty clean!

Will definitely be a good runner once you get the valves etc. done.

Any plans beside get her running right?

Just the dusting off and running right for now. Took it out again for a longer 20 mile ride today. Hit 80mph and pushed it past redline in lower gears to 10k rpm without any problems. These twins are balanced right so not much vibration. But like my '93 GS500, the earlier GS450 engine doesn't have any poop left over redline.

Cool, and yeah I don't go much past 7500 - 8000 when pushing, not much left up there but it does sound nice :)

Now I've got my K&N's and the custom 2 into1 on mine I've found she starts picking up earlier in the rev range too, around 4000 - 4500 where it used to be up around 5000 - 5500..,
