A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

GS450S neaten up

Took her out for a quick spin yesterday and managed to get some water on the new paint when a quick burst caught me right before I got home.

Rode really nice! More importantly - no oil leaks from tensioner! :D

Can't wait for weather to clear up! Want to do few odds and ends still and give it a really good tune up - just to make sure everything is 100%!

Also would like to take some nice shots of the bike as soon as the weather clears.

The extra effort on the wheels paid off
nothing worse than rationalizing laziness and painting a pretty wheel a sold colour.

Love the bike Wally. Nice work for sure. Can't wait to see the next project.

Thanx guys! The wheels were a bit of a mission, but so worth it! Would have looked really bad keeping the old pitted wheels on there and new shiny paintwork and decals on top.

I have now officially joined the dumb-@ss brigade... :o

Loaded the GS onto a trailer yesterday to take to bike electrical shop this morning on my way to work.

After I got it onto the trailer I noticed this:

A nice big gash on the tank from my belt buckle!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

I hope it can be fixed or otherwise it is a respray and new decals...

On the plus-side, it turns out the stator is fried. :|

Awww man that sucks Wally! Lucky my jacket covers my belt buckle...

The stator is a much easier fix

Might be, but not for me...haven't got a head for electrical stuff...I even struggled to fit a wall mounted fixture yesterday...

My jacket normally covers it as well, but I wasn't going ATGATT to load my bike...

Anyway, stator fixed! I can pick it up this afternoon. ;)

Ah I see... well at least the stator's sorted now :)

When I messed up my tank paint when a piece peeled off with the masking tape, I was able to use a touch up gun to squirt just in that area.

However there was no clear on at that point so I'm not sure how relevant that will be...

I will probably have to go that route, but the tank pads are all shaped for the newer bikes and not the older squarish tanks - worried that it might looks silly.

Wally, I had one of those pads on my GS450E tank before I repainted it. They make them in a clear material, and it's pretty unobtrusive.

Great project btw!

Thanx Rich - I will have a look out for a decent, not-too-modern one.

Now just waiting for decent weather to give her a good run! Had hectic storms this past weekend. :(

Well, it's kind of sad and good news...

The GS was sold this morning - got a good offer on it. :(
But, it will mean that I can start on the other GS project! ;)

Wow that was fast! Didn't even know you were selling it... but I do remember your Buell is the preferred rider...

Now get into that other one, I wanna see what you can do :)

I wasn't! Happened to stumble upon a guy who was willing to pay good money for a good bike. Tested the water and he took it (over a similar model with only 18 000kms on!). :) The money will fund the other one. ;)

Aaaah one of those right place right time moments... always good when that happens ;)
