A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Just purchased a Suzuki GS550E from 1980. I'm in the middle of restoring that bike. Already replaced damaged wiring and fixed all electrical problem. Now I'm working on carburetors. Looks like some smart guy messed with them real good. I did rebuild three of them but have a problem with the forth one - need to replace entire carb body.
I need help to figure out on what year and models the carburetors are interchangeable. Someone told me that the GS550 and GS750 have the same carburetors installed. :!: Thanks all for any help or advice.

That's true, both the 550 and 750 came with BS32SS carbs. The only difference was the jetting, and I believe the rack they mount to. Which body do you need?

Welcome.

In another thread Steve pointed out that the spacing between the carbs - particularly the center two - could be problematic w/r/t the throttle linkage from the larger bikes. The 550 and 650 carbs should be identical other than jets. Larger than that and you need to start considering the throttle connectors as well.

Figure out which carb body you need and put a request in the "parts wanted" section. More than likely someone can help you out.

Thanks all of you guys for prompt replays. So looks like all GS550, 650 and 750 carburetors are interchangeable. There is a bank of Suzuki carburetors from GS650 on Ebay for $40. Looks like a great deal to get some extra parts for future repair. Thanks again.

550 and 650s are the same carbs
the 750 and 850 have the same 1&4 carb but there is a wider spacing on 2&3 since the cylinders are larger.
