A Special Note about Email accounts!

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.
Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.
Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...
If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.
If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.
OK Here is the history:
I had the bike a few months and it ran fairly well.
The bike seems to run out of gas with two gallons in the tank.
The bike died at freeway speed suddenly, and would restart on after sitting for a long time.
I did a half ass carb cleaning and the bike would not start
I got grief from all you guys.
I did a by the book carb cleaning and found very little.
Bike did not start. Would only run on starting fluid.
Replaced O rings and checked for leaks.
Increased float level. Bike starts ocasionally but quits at idle then won't restart. But this is the first time it ran without starting fluid.
Checked gas flow by removing the bowl plugs. I get plenty of gas flowing.
What else can I do? Thanks
same thing is happening to me on my 85... I soaked and rebuilt the carbs, new oring kit from cycleorings, adjusted everything to spec.. installed new orings on intake boots, installed carbs, primed carbs, used an aux tank, and it fired right up, idled great, rev'd great, ran till I shut it off.
Now it wont start no matter what I try.. not even with ether.. Maybe my problem is the same as yours... Hopefully one of us can figure this out and get our bikes running. Never give up hope,, its gotta be something simple were missing.
Rick
well mine hasn't started. it ran great right after I cleaned and new orings in my carbs,, fired right up and idled, rev'd up real quick, sounded real sweet.. now the damn thing wont even catch with gas or ether after turning over.. been trying for 2 weeks... stick it in the back of the garage and it can sit..
How can there be a response to his "post below", when his post is 21 posts ABOVE yours? :-kI appreciate everyone's attention to the carbs, but are you looking at the ignition too (didn't see a response to hjfisk's post below)?
