If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

I have a 1982 Suzuki gs650e with the Z model carbs. The bike has been sitting for a long time before I got it. There are a few questions I need to ask.

First: What size are the Main Jets. (96.5, or 110)

Second: Where can I purchase the choke boots. When I got it running, I noticed air leaks in the choke boots (Thank God for WD40), and a noticable poping sound like small backfires.

I have been working on this bike on and off for about 6 months. I am just now realizing that motorcycles are a lot different than cars.

Ant help will be welcome.

Thanks,

Bones

Bones, welcome to forum.

The 650e model should have a 97.5 Main jet, the shaft drive g and gl models have 110 mains.
Bikebandit, alphasports, flatout, your local suzuki dealer can probably all get the choke boots. Plenty of help available, just ask:).

Hi Mr. Bones,

Please click here for your mega-welcome, chock full of suggestions and vendors. Then feel free to visit my little BikeCliff website for manuals, "how to" guides, general information, etc, stuff I've been collecting during my internment here. Thanks for joining us.

Thank you for your indulgence,

Are you sure on this? I thought the jetting was the same.

The motor's are the same, except for being a 5 speed vs 6 speed.

Different airboxes for one, and I believe the cam timing is a little different. They also take different batteries, with the shaft drive requiring a 14aH model and the chain taking a 12aH.

The 650e has more in common chassis wise with the 750 chain drives than the shafts. In addition to the swing arm (obviously) the wiring harnesses are different and the seats are slightly different.

I had a chance to compare mine to a chain a few years ago and from first blush those are some of the differences I noticed.

Here is a clip from the carb "sticky" that is the first thread of this forum:

And anytime you want to compare some more, you are welcome to stop by..

No, I am not totally sure but if you check this link from top of page:
http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/showthread.php?t=73723&page=5

I also happened to purchase a set of 650e carbs off ebay a great while back and was surprised to see how much difference there was between g and e carb specs. Not to argue the point, but the 650s have the same top end with different lowers. Plain bearing high oil pressure shaft motors vs roller bearing low oil pressure chain drives.

Were the 650e six speeds? I thought they were all fives.
