Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

I have an 1980 GS750E and I am wondering if a motor from a 1983 GS750E with mono shock will fit into my frame. The newer motor has only 5k miles and is pretty much in show room condition, plus it always good to have spares. Any info would be appreciated.

Thank you

Yes, it will fit. It is, physically, a smaller engine. It is NOT a bolt in, however. The rear lower mount should bolt up & then it is a matter of fabbing the rest of the mounts. Not all that hard if you have any skills.
Ray.

Better yet can I fit a GS1000 motor in a 750 frame? Looking for a winter project... I love the way my bike handles now but I think extra power would be nice, think the 1000 motor will be to heavy?

spoke to a guy overhere in the u.k. at a local show, his gs.750was fitted with a gs1000 motor.slots in the frame o.k.rear mounts fit but he had to fab some new front engine mounts.

Why waste time on an 8 valve engine when a 16 valve 1100 or 1150 will make a LOT more power & there are a LOT more parts available for those engines?!! And those engines are a BOLT IN!!!

Do they literally bolt in or is some custom Fab work necessary?

The 1100 will literally bolt in. I know for sure the 80-81 16 valves will for sure, they use the same frame. Lordy, I would love to bolt in an 1150 into my 750E frame and leave the 750 badges on it heheheh.

The 1150 valve cover would give it away. Use the 1100 motor for the same look. An 1170 motor would be good to surprise unsuspectors with!!

No body around here knows what a 1150 motor looks like. It will work lol. Ooooo a 1170 motor eh? How much lol.

Finally trackeddown an 1100 motor question is can I use my stock 750 electronics on the 1100motor (coils, plug wires, etc..) or do i need to also buy the electronics???

Yes they are the same. I think even the rotor pickups are (but use the one from the new motor).

And what makes you think THAT'S gonna work? LOL

Only issue I had was the small bottom tab mounts. Just didn't use them...

Never pulled the trigger on the motor, had to many miles on it.... still searching for an 1100 or 1150 motor.... Ps I have been reading that its possible to put a newer GSXR motor... Hs anyone tried this?

If you go GSXR, you will need EVERYTHING with that motor. Engine, all electronics, carbs or tb's, and then you will have to do a ton of fabrication. I am researching this as well, not going to be easy.
