A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hello, I'm Japie from The Netherlands and I often rely on this forum to help me with my 1979 GS750.
I bought it around 2 years ago and it was all original, has about 60k km now.
I have since upgraded the brakes (thanks to this forum) and chain (530).

The braking is so much better now, but the front suspension is way too soft.
The next upgrades on the Suzuki are the charging system and the front suspension.
But the bike starts and rides very well, I often take it out for a drive.

This forum is very useful and cointais so much info, I had to introduce myself.

Some pictures below:
The last picture is from when I bought it.

Welcome Japie
You mentioned that you upgraded the brakes. The 3rd picture shows what looks like duct tape around the brake hose. Did you not upgrade the brake line? If you didn't, you should seriously consider it. Lots or companies make better steel braided brake line and new fittings. If that tape is holding back a leak, you're asking for some serious trouble.

Hey you have a good eye! I did upgrade the brake lines, but it was slightly rubbing against the fender. I put a rubber hose around the brake line and some duct tape to hold it in place. Not the prettiest solution I agree

welcome from Doetinchem. The aluminium parts could use a good polish. Try Belgom. Makes it shiny again. And ifyou have the money install steel brake-lines. And the calipers are not Original. I think Woesthoff in Brummen has those.

Welcome, and I must say it looks alot better than when you first bought it. As a fellow minimalist, I salute you for removing the saddlebags, the trunk, the windshield, etc.

Now she's lighter, faster and more nimble, and we can see her!
