    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

GS750 Stators

With all the knowledge and experience here, I've never seen this one addressed, though I may have missed it or overlooked it:

Some 8-valve GS750's had Nippon-Denso ignition systems; others had Kokusan systems. The stators for these systems carry different part numbers. Are they interchangeable? Is there an easy way to identify which stator is which?

Yes, I know Electrex is the real answer, but they don't list a model for the GS750 :cry:

I don't think they are interchangable Maybe if you change the rotor also ???? Never tried it. If there is no replaacement listed Have you considered rewinding it yourself Or as a last resort you can send it to a Electric motor Rebuilder and have it rewound usually around $150

Thanks for the response. I don't need a stator (at least not yet); but I've been trying to stockpile some key parts, as our GS's age, and parts eventually become more difficult to acquire. I've found stators listed periodically on eBay, but the seller seldom provides enough information to identify which ignition system the item was used with, and when I ask the question, they usually don't know anyway, (or don't want to bother to check - it's not difficult to tell, if you've got the points assembly at hand). I got another "I don't know" response this morning, which prompted me to post the question. Thanks again; if I ever find the answer, I'll post it for all.

Don't quote me but the earlier stators had 12 poles and the later ones had 16 poles??? They are sized different requiring different rotor
