A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Hello. i have just stripped the paint from my 1978 gs750 tank. It uncovered a few slight dings ,not bad, that I would like to have a go at pushing out from the inside. That's if I can reach them.
However there is a 'skirt' or funnel type form ,that leads from the filler opening down to the tanks internal rise.( please see photo).
The internal funnel makes any access impossible, except for the petrol of coarse.
I would like to ask if anybody has had a go at cutting that internal funnel shorter? probably using a dremel.
Also I was thinking of using a tank clean and liner like por15. I have learned with my other tanks ,from my Hondas, that any internal lip on the inside of the filler hole makes the process difficult.
Any thoughts or opinions appreciated. Thanks. Mike.

Dont cut it. Its a little baffle that keeps fuel from sloshing up against the cap...to some degree anyway. The liner will roll up against the skirt when you tip it upside down to let the liner get the roof of the tank. No worries.

May investigate what a local body shop will charge to pull the dents best they can. In any case some body filler is gonna be needed. If the dents arent too deep then just fill them and be done with it.

ok, thanks Chuck. I'll have a go at it with a dent puller. Mike
