I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I wasn't able to find anything in the search about it, so I apologize if this has been answered or is an insane question :|.

The carbs that I got with my bike are shot, almost completely disassembled and no parts with them, so I am currently looking for a new(used) set of carbs.
It is my understanding that the 850 has 32mm CV (BS32ss) carbs. Are these carbs the only ones I can use, or will the 34mm (BS34ss) carbs from a GS1000 work?
I noticed a couple threads about using different sizes of VM carbs, but...
Total newbie, first bike. Teach me please :).

34s might work, but you will lose a lot of the low-speed crispness in the throttle response.
They might also have different spacing between carbs, I don't know.

If your carbs are that bad off, there are a few sets available on eBay right now.
(I know, I just spent the last hour browsing through about 1/3 o the 2800+ listings for 850s.)

If they seem to be a little expensive, just compare that with what it might cost to add all the parts to your current set.
Send me a picture of what you have, I might even be willing to buy them for spare parts. :D

Found a bank of BS32's at a flea market for $5!

Thanks for all your help Steve. I'm posting the pics of my carb sets here for everyone else.

This is what came with the bike.

This is what I just got. Looks like maybe off of a 750? The carbs are the same, but the gap between #2 and #3 is slightly narrower, less than 1/2".

Dan,
Thanks, I may look into that, though I am so close to Steve, he is helping me (I'm VERY grateful for this!) so I'm sure he will know of the available resources.

Those are probably from a 650, I think if you swap carb number three, the choke rod, fuel T, and the two mounting rails, the central spacing will be correct for you 850. I have several partial racks of 850 carbs, maybe I have any parts you need as well. I need some 650 pieces too, we can swap.

I have been conversing with him via PM. I have most of the parts that he needs, and I feel that between his original rack, the "new" rack and my spare parts, we'll have him going in the week that I will be home. :D

^^What Steve said:dancing:^^
Steve get dibs on anything extra I may have, but if he doesn't want some of them, I'll keep you in mind, tkent. Thanks!

Heh, looks like those carbs have had the old "hammer sickness".
Ya know, it they dont work, whack em!
