I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Hey guys. Been working on my 1980 GS850G. Had to fix a leak around the fuel gauge sending unit under the tank - easy fix and done. Also replaced the cdi unit. But, I now have a problem I thought was caused by the leaky tank.. I have a river of gas in my airbox.. flowing pretty freely too.

I can start the bike and it now fires on all cylinders; but, she bogs and once in a while wants to backfire. So, it seems apparent there is a carb problem.
I've never had a stuck float before - not in 19 years of owning and riding bikes. Would a stuck float account for the flooded airbox? If not, what would? Appreciate any help with this. The bike is lookin pretty good and I'm ready to ride her; but, this last little bit has me jammed up.

The petcock should be shutting off fuel flow, but if it is not the float valves should be stopping flow. I would suspect it's bad o-rings on the float valve bodies.

Thanks. So, I actually have two problems then. The floats aren't shutting down flow, nor is the petcock. Petcock is easy enough to fix. Looks like time for a trip to the mechanic.. I hate carb rebuilds lol

The o-rings are easy enough to change. The critical part is removing the float pins without damaging the towers the pin runs through. The o-rings happen to be the same size as those used on the tips of pump up type garden sprayers.

Yeah, I've rebuilt honda carbs before and they're probably not much different. Just have bad memories of honda carbs. though it looks like Suzuki designed the space they put theirs in with ample enough room for it not to be the nightmare honda posed me with.
