A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

After a thorough teardown, I'm starting to put my '81 GS850G back together. Wiring has never been my strong point. While I think I can figure out the connections with the help of a wiring diagram, I think I could use a little help with the exact routing. Unfortunately, I didn't have a digital camera until after the teardown. Would one of you kind folks take a moment to take some pictures of the wire routing and post them?

Thanks to anyone who can offer assistance.

I've got an GS850L, but I'm not sure whether the routing is the same. Do you have any questions in particular?

Great! Thanks. According to the manual the wiring should be the same. I can tell some of the routing from the manual, but not everything. First, what path does the blue and green wires (from the signal generator on the right side of the engine) wrapped in the white take after it wraps around the oil pan? Also, there appears to be a ground wire attached to the top rear of the back of the transmission case. Mine wasn't connected to anything when I got the bike. This would be a start. If you have a digital camera and about 10-15 minutes to snap and upload some shots of the wiring in general, that would be even better. Thanks for your help.

I see you are in NE Iowa. I'm in Cedar Falls. If you'd let me, I could swing by and take some pictures at your convenience.

Thank you!!! I'm sending a private message.

That is the situation I would use as an excuse to convince my wife to let me buy the GSX 1100G that is for sale the next town over !
