A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I have a 1982 GS850G that I have determined to have a faulty CDI Unit. I decided to go with a Dyna S system to replace the Signal Generator and go straight to the ignition coils. After removing the Signal Generator I put back on the Dyna S and bolt it in place. My problem is that the nut that attaches to the end of the crank no longer reaches with the Dyna in place. I know Dyna has to work with a mechanical advance, which is what I thought I had. Ive found some documentation on this site saying I need parts off a 1100. Has anyone had this problem that can help me out. This is my first GS Suzuki and my first motorcycle all together. Thank You.

There is 28,000 miles on the bike, It has not been running. I picked it up as a project bike. Not much recent work has been done other then carb rebuild, and cleanup on it. With the bad cdi unit installed I have had it running but only on one cylinder. I had 2 cylinders spark but only one was firing properly. I am getting excited that I am close to having it run once this Dyna S is properly installed. Thanks for your time.

Hey howdy hey!

Hey howdy hey!

Mr. Andrwbunker,

First of all, let it be known that on this day you are cordially and formally welcomed to the GSR Forum as a Junior Member in good standing with all the rights and privileges thereof. Further let it be known that good standing can be improved with pictures (not you, your bike)! :-D

I'm sorry I haven't the experience to help you with your ignition situation. But if you like, feel free to visit my little BikeCliff website for manuals, diagrams and pictorial maintenance guides of the stuff I have learned to do.

Thanks for joining us. There are lots of Dyna users here and I'm sure one of these nice folks will be along shortly to offer some suggestions.

One more suggestion, I recommend visiting the garage section via the GSR Hompage and check out the carb rebuild series and the Stator Papers. Other informational pages from members include those of Mr. bwringer, Mr. tfb and Mr. robertbarr.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

It appears you have an electronic advance. I would call Dynatech at 800-928-3962. Ask them if an advance and crank trigger off an 80-83 sixteen valve GS1100 engine will work because I have extra. Let me know.
