DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I have recently bought a GS850G which needs one of the carburetor diaphragms replaced. I have sourced the parts and will change all 4 because they are not in the best shape:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/282010960257?lpid=122&chn=ps&adgroupid=39775544310

My question is, how are the new diaphragms secured to the slides? I read somewhere that I have to cut the plastic retainers to remove the old diaphragm but I cannot find the replacement retainers anywhere.

Any advice anyone can offer is greatly appreciated.

Excellent, I found the information I need, thanks a lot! :-)

Crazy how much the diaphragms cost but I guess its a captive audience, if you need them then you gotta pay!

If you think those are expensive, you don't want to check the price of OEM diaphragms. :-\\\

I don't know where I read this but I tried it and for 3 years, so far, it has held. I repaired a tear in a diaphragm using high temp blue RTV (O'Reilly Auto) and a patch cut from a Harbor Freight 5 mil thick rubber glove. I applied the patch to the "top side" of the diaphragm. Made the patch about 2 or 3 times the size of the tear. I let it cure overnight and reassembled. Worked great and 3 years later still working.

Just my 2 cents.

I use ultra black. Be sure to use a nitrile glove. It works.
Yeah nitrile is what used. I said rubber because I'm getting old and forgot what it was called. But the cheap 5 mil thick gloves from HF is what I used.
