A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

In 1999 I bought a GS850GN which was a bit of a wreck with 51K on the clock. 2001 it went back on the road after a complete restoration, at the time I was told by many biking friends that I had spent to much time and money on the project. 2016 I'm still riding it and it has just clocked just over 80k bearing in mind I have five other bikes the old girl has done well it has never let me down (should I have put that !!). I now have a problem with the L/H handle bar switch I think that there is an issue with the indicator switch it works ok to the left side but not to the right. I have tried cleaning the contacts but still no joy, as I suspected the complete switch is unavailable no longer so my question is has anybody resolved this issue with an aftermarket product that they would recommend.

Good to hear. I'm coming up on three years with my 80 T. It's only a baby with 47 on the clock. The left handlebar switch was causing a lot of problems with fast blinking and headlight and horn. I picked up a used one from a breaker in good nick apart from some light dirt on the contacts. Have you tried swapping the blinker feeds in the headlight and tail to see if the problem stays on the right.
Welcome to the forum btw and in case you haven't yet found it http://members.dslextreme.com/users/bikecliff/

Try tracing the wiring from the blinker light back to the connections. Had a problem with mine and it was a pinched wire that was grounding itself on the rear fender bracket.

If the contacts are clean it has to be something in the wiring, or perhaps some solder joint cracked. Can't be too hard to fix, but used switches are widely available.

I have made a cursory check of the wiring but as the posts on here have advised i need to Have the drains up and look for an earth !! many thanks for the advice :encouragement:
