DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Will do .I have taken heaps of pictures . The upper and lower cases R now bare as well as the head . The whole engine is going to b hydra blasted by Campbell classic cycles . Can not wait to c the end result :)

Good stuff John! If that hydra blasting is the same as the wet blasting I had done on my head and cylinders you're definitely gonna love it! Apart from the finish, it also makes it incredibly easy to keep clean. I just wish I had've had the crankcases and valve cover done instead of painting them...

Are you planning on leaving it stock? I've heard our bikes
are a little notorious for big ends due to the
Small oil reservoir ... I'm thinking of eventually
doing something with a few more cc's and maybe
an oil cooler some where;)

^^ get a new bike sammy ;) haha
you can only really bore our engines out like another 40ish ccs... doesnt sound worth it :(

apparently gsx550 engines bolt straight in quite easily. said a guy at pablo's lol

If the 550 fits, it goes to 675 really easily.

Is the 400 a smaller motorcycle or is the 400 just a 550 with a smaller engine?

Edit, after a bit of googling, it's a completely different motorcycle.

I want one.

its a weird machine, looks like only a few hundred released here and in NZ..
Ive heard the 550 head can slip on but cant find anything to back it up?

I have a disassembled 550 at home, would be happy to take a bunch of measurements like cylinder and stud spacing, whatever else you want. Can also measure motor mount width, etc.

Hi Guzziboy .Mate I am leaving it stock, I have also heard about the big ends so I will be looking at them on the week end. Placed an order from cmsl for new rings, Orings etc.I am now looking for some 6m flange bolts to replace the 2 that I snaped and the three that r almost snaped , but trying to find them is becoming a pain in the neck .

Sorry about the pictures, could not figure out how to make them smaller :o

Pic's are good John, and that engine looks schmick!

I'm still kicking myself for not getting the cases and valve cover done on mine when I had the cylinders and head done...

Glad Mick Hone could help, they have great prices and even better service!

big end bearings

big end bearings

Hi All
Took the Conrod?s out to have a look at the big ends today .As you can see there seems to be lines on the bearing surface but they feel smooth ??? But I think I will replace them any way just to be on the safe side . :)
