A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

maybe i will phone them when i find out what size sprocket i need.. i had a guy in portland make me a one piece front sprocket with a 5/8 offset. He also made me a rear one as well.He had it hardened because of the 520 chain.
Did they make you a front sprocket with a offset?

Nope, mine came in a package and is readily available. See! Hay, I just noticed that the package also indicates that it fit the 750 too!

I got my 5/8 Counter shaft sprocket from (PMFR) Precision Metal Fab Racing. Too bad I couldnt use it but was of good quality.

Maybe we're getting a bit ahead of ourselves for this thread

Heres a quick rundown of how i go about it
#1 get wheel alignment spot on dont rely on the marks on the arm
#2 work out how much ofsett you need to get the chain dead central in the gap between the frame & tyre from the front sprocket
#3 ofsett the front spocket to suit either with spacers or a made up sprocket
#4 add or remove material from rear sprocket carrier or change rear sprocket carrier to achieve perfect chain alignment

Dead easy :D

On very rare occasions i'll put the chain run a couple of mm one way or the other in relation to the frame & tyre simply because (a) theres space or (B) i already have the parts to make it work :p

the main thing to remember when asking for advice on this is that unless the person you are asking is using EXACTLY the same parts as you are there WILL be slight variations in whats needed ;)

Just a quick update ive been ill with pleurisy so theres not too much progress :( but ive managed to find a matching wheel for the rear & its in there all lined up but using a spacer instead of the odd shaped brake mount as i cant find the correct one anywhere, i may use an early gsxr one & weld a tab to the swingarm to take the brake tourque arm which would save me finding a late model caliper as well as the mount :-k

just to make things even more awkward ive managed to gash my hand pretty badly & still cant grip properly but its getting there slowly & i'll be posting pics of where i'm up to soon :)

cheers tone

Yes i am mate, ive not found one that dosn't "yellow" yet so i'll keep polishing untill i get bored then probably do my usual & black powdercoat everything in sight :)

Aye, I've polished the casings on my bikes, and I just keep hitting them with polish to stop the staining, it's not like we have the option of only riding on dry days here, eh , there's not really such a thing.

Well back to the thread ! the bike has changed a bit since i last posted on here but my situation has changed too so i'm going to have to sell

shame really as it was beginning to take shape with the new front end & back wheel :(

Tone,

Hope you've found a better project to work on and not run into any financial or health problems. You had a good start going there!

No not got any real problems mate just getting a bit bored with building stuff instead of riding so decided to sell some stuff & spend the cash enjoying myself :D

If Headphase passes on it Tone, I'd like to know how much you want for that tank. Will it mount stock to a GS frame or will mods or strapping be involved??
