If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Benefit of oil cooler

Benefit of oil cooler

What is the benefit of an oil cooler on a GS?

Okay, guess that was an obvious question. Did they come stock on the '80 GS 1100E? I can't find it in my manual.

What I don't like about my oil cooler is that the fittings aren't lined up just right and it has a slight leak. Also, I can't figure out where to get replacement lines. I have homemade SS lines on mine and the frayed ends poke the s(*0 out of me when I change the filter.

Thanks Ray, maybe that's where mine came from. What year 1150 would you suggest?

Pagan, how did your lockhart fit. Where did you find it?

I'm mostly interested in trying to find braided lines to match my brake lines. Any ideas?

Looking for something not so home made looking. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Does anyone know if this could be an original Suzuki oil cooler?

Ray, can you point me in the right direction for locating an 1150 oil cooler and lines, preferably SS braided?

Blue, the cooler in your pics is NOT a stock cooler from Suzuki. ALL years of the 1150 coolers are the same. Ebay is your best bet to find an 1150 cooler but be aware that you will need the 1150 oil filter cover also or to modify the 1100 cover. Call me at 714--356-7845 if you need any help. Ray.

I have found several 1150 coolers on ebay lately in decent shape and priced around $75 -$125 with lines and fittings. I was shocked to find that the oil filter housing covers are rare and hard to find. Retail is around $135-$155 for a new cover. I have bid as high as $95 on ebay and let them go. Even at my dealer cost it was still $105 including the tax. So any way unless you modify your stock cover or fabricate some sort of a restrictor to install plan on spending as much or more on the cover then you will on the cooler. At least that has been my luck so far.
