A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Just standard ignition man, i havent messed with anything like that. And i honestly have no idea about those parts of the machine yet lol I guess ill learn when/if i have problems :P

cool man thanks for that...
just go through your beast and make sure you have plenty of nice clean earths on the frame. Mine were rusty as, barely even metal on some.
Have you changed your regulator rectifier yet? Better do that first if you haven't already. there are some great articles on the Bikecliff site to help you keep her electrically healthy.

Cheers

Guz

Changed that and the Stator as soon as i bought her ;)
Got the latest Shindengen beast kit on it. works like a charm!

definitely liking the way your heading its looking sweet..Im gonna head more scrambler with mine i think..
Im trying to work out what to change next..stator or pick ups
NEED to ride man
:)

well i have been doing stuff with the bike. but not documenting it. so busy with uni as of late.

Here is the shot of the seat mould. Will be laying her up this week, then cutting and shaping etc

More to come; bike has to be up and ready to go in two weeks!!! DGR ride (distinguished gentlemans ride) coming up!

Have a look at your right hand handle bar switch
The wiring runs along a metal edge just
Where the throttle tube sits and I found
All the insulation on a few of my wires had worn
Through... Got her going today, so stoked :-)

Just a quick before and after - got a bit bored while waiting for this fibreglassing to set.
ps, the mould failed miserably, for some reason the "tape' method over the foam wasnt enough of a barrier and it ate away the blue foam. Will just take a lot of bog to rescue the situation but should still be good to go after this next layer of glass sets.

some pics from my mould and fibreglassing + the beagle getting some afternoon sun.

seat turned out better than i thought. Still a **** load of bog and sanding that needs to be done - but held its shape even after the foam failed.

Little bit of trimming here and there... not long now i hope.

A LOT of work went to getting the seat shaped and painted after the fibreglassing didnt go as predicted. LOTS of bog, many hours shaping and sanding. But finally its at a point where im happy and will be ready for next weeks DGR charity ride :)

Good work Nik! I remember the effort that went into my tail piece as well, but well worth it when it turns out good!

Good thread and good work Nik. I doubt that you will be riding this out to Ayers Rock though. Might be a bit hard on the arse.

I'm not a fiberglass specialist but have done it once or twice.
I was wondering if aluminum metal HVAC duct tape wouldn't work for the fiberglass mold? It would be like a layer of aluminum and I can't see it eating through that...

I think it was just a matter of doing many layers of tape - in different directions of overlap. It didnt eat through the tape but must have somehow got inbetween the layers.

Any tape will do. Mine was blue painters tape and it held together - just didnt "seal" properly i guess.

Thanks guys!

Well after successfully failiing at filling the new braking system with fluid, Ill be down one brake calliper. Seems to be a leak at one of the piston seals in the calliper, so off to find a single banjo bolt and get this up and running on at least one brake line for the weekend ride.

Always the little things that slow things down :(
