A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

These have been in storage for probably 12 months and are now out for a rebuild.

Plans are to replace the bolts with stainless Allen key ones. The body internals are spotless as I cleaned them not long before I out them into storage going to paint strip the outside 2 carbs to get them spotless and leave them in bare alloy.

Will this effect the performance of the carbs? Its on all of them. I can'tsee light through the tear but iI don'tlike the look of it.IMAG0168.jpg

is it split? looks like a mark. if it isn't split it wont affect the vacuum

the rubber has worn through on one side each diaphragm has 4 wear marks on it.

Now take the fuel bowls and the diaphragm covers and polish them out.

So when you say "worn through" does that mean there is a hole? If there is a hole you can probably get new diaphragms from JBM industries.

I don't know if these are replaceable or not. They have a plastic ring on the top and a metal ring underneath.

They can be replaced quite easily, you have to breaker one of the plastic rings off. The is a tutorial on the JBM site on how to do it. I replaced them on a honda shadow and they worked great. Very high quality parts.

Found a Hole in 2 Diaphragms. Will need to get a set from JBM.

Carbs are spotless inside but the outsides are still abit grubby. Not sure if i should blast them or just boil them in carb cleaner again.

KFC you replace 2 you might as well replace them all. If you have 2 that ate bad I bet the others aren't far behind and for another 40 bucks you might as well get 4

Carbs are ready for re-assembly, apart from the rubber diaphragms which i will order from JBM Industries. Just need to check the float levels and either paint the 2 carb supporting brackets or replate them, I'm thinking paint.
