Hey everyone, I've scoured through the search feature and didn't find what I was looking for. Has anyone put Nighthawk bars, Touring Bars or LTD Bars from Bikemaster on? If so, thoughts? Pics?

Those all tend to be trade names or related to particular models.

"Nighthawk" is a Honda.

"Touring" bars ... what bike? Gold Wing? Venture? Voyager? Harley? BMW?

"LTD" is a Kawasaki thing, much like Suzuki's "L".

You hinted that you have an "L", I'm not sure that all Ls have the same bend. If you are looking for some replacements because yours are bent, fine, let us know that. If you are looking for something different, let us know what you want: lower, not as pulled-back, flatter, straight, whatever.

Though they "appear" to be bent at the same angle, seem to be the same length, the 850's bars just didn't fit me, when on the bike.
I have changed them out to a spare set I've had hanging on the wall. :o

Sorry Let me clean that up

Sorry Let me clean that up

I have a 1980 550L and the handlebars are ridiculous in my opinion. I'm very uncomfortable. I found Bikemaster makes the Nighthawk, LTD and Touring Bars all which look like the cruiser type. I am just curious as to what others have done and if they had any pictures of their handlebar swaps.

If you are looking for "Cruiser" bars, then those would be your choices.

Most here, however, go more for the lower bars that would be found on the standard "non-L" bikes and go for the Daytona or Superbike bend.

.

I replaced my 82 550L bars with BikeMaster Daytonas. It's a pretty nice upgrade appearance wise. From a riding perspective it's not Earth-shattering but definitely you're leaning in more. Still have to replace my cables. I understand that 550M cables work well with the lower bars. I have changed mirrors: the stock mirrors without the rising bar made for a nice view of my shoulders and not much else.

I'll try to post a pic tonight so you can see how they look. The final position of the hands is just a couple inches below where they landed with the stock buckhorn bars, but at a different angle.

I put on a set of Daytona bar on my 1000 L. I like how they put me into the bike, more feel of control now instead of hangin on to the thing.

I found the stock handlebars on my 82 to be pretty horrid. Like driving a really fast tiller. This is they:

Shorty after getting the bike I ordered some Bikemaster LTD bars. They're definitely better than the stock bars, but are still a buckhorn style and not what I was hoping for. There are some photos in this gallery of the bike with those bars, but nothing really up close.

I noticed here in the forums that someone posted a photo of their bike with Emgo LTD bars from Z1, and those looked about right. So I got one and I love it. (The EMGO LTD is NOT the same as the Bikemaster LTD.) No photos yet, but I'll try to take one today if you'd like. You can get them here: http://www.z1enterprises.com/detail.aspx?ID=2743

I think I have the Bikemaster bars around here somewhere. If you're willing to cover shipping I'll box them up and send them to you.

I tried several different aftermarket handlebars on my '82 GS850L, and finally settled on the Flanders GS-E bars. I tried the Bikemaster Daytona and they were really uncomfortable and nothing seemed to fit right when I put everything back on the handlebars. The GS-E style made a million percent difference in the comfort of my back and wrists compared to the stock buckhorn bars. Just enough room to fit the master cylinder, mirrors, etc back without too much difficulty and no modifications needed to any cables. Back then, the Daytonas cost only $19.54 and the GS-E were $ 77.78, but well worth it.

Here is a side shot of the EMGO LTD bars on my L. Got them from Z1.

If the LTD bars "match" kawa bars i know they are comfy ive had a 750 LTD and have a 650. They are still "buckhorny" but not to bad were its a tiller.

I put standard "E" bars off a 1979-1981 Gs750:

more natural wrist posture. Chose function over looks.

Thank You

Awesome. Thank you to all of you. I'm looking into all of below! Z1 bars are only listed at 21 bucks! Dont know where I'd get E Bars. I have to look into that but they look much better.

Fivetoedsloth- that tiller comment nearly took me out of my chair. Its so true!

I know the Daytonas did but did any of the others require cable changes?
