Just wondering if anyone has painted their stock mufflers to tidy them up a bit, and if so, what color they used. Pictures would be most welcome!

I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.
Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Returning Visitors
If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.
If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

well you can use header paint, or BBQ paint, or high temp paint, or anythihng that will hold up to the high heat....
it's been done may a time....
you can even paint and wrap them......

That looks good, I may wrap my headers. Anyone have any pics of the stock mufflers with pain on them? My chrome looks like crap.
I did but you have to be very careful you don't spill brake fluid on them and strip the paint.
Had them fixed this year with a local shop ceramic coating them for an inexpensive price.

I am still waiting to see any pictures of STOCK exhaust painted myself. :-\\\
Curious to see the results after several miles too beside which paint was used and how it was prepared.

The picture of my Yosh pipe is a stock pipe, I wrapped the headers, and painted the mid pipe, the end is aluminum and polished...

The pipes on my 550T are stock as well - look in my project thread for what they looked like (hideously) before this refresh. I'm impressed with how well the ceramic coater did on them.

Not sure why you couldn't do this but...
Here's Rustoleum BBQ paint on headers. It lasts pretty well but you will want to recoat it every once in a while. This stuff comes in a spray can or a normal paint can even a quart can (I have a quart) so you can brush it on. I love to slap the stuff on. Did this with two coats at first and then a refresher coat this spring, though it was still pretty good....
However you must take sandpaper to chrome (wear a mask if you care about yourself) or it won't stick as well as it does to sanded rust. The exhaust "guard" you can see here is chrome and it's sticking pretty well.
Notice it's a kind of dark grey-not a rich black. It sort of polishes with a soft cloth.

Not a GS, but here's the stock pipes and mufflers on my CB750f. I prepped the chrome with a 3M roloc bristle disc on a right angle die grinder. I used the VHT high temp paint, and did the "cure in place by running it" deal. I don't have any current pics, but after 3 years, it still looks good enough. A couple boot scuffs, but no peeling or blistering, flaking, etc. I may recoat next winter. I'm gonna do my wife's GS with it, probably a silver color though, and use the same prep procedure.

any chance of getting a bigger pic? It looks good from what I can see. If I paint mine they will definitely be silver.
