A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

ok its "new old stock" but what does that mean for quality or if its oem?

From an ebay posting how do you tell it its the good OEM gaskets? there are a few some say athena those to avoid but the others are not identified as OEM but then maybe Im not sure what I should be looking for.

1979 gs 850 head gasket, valve cover gasket, base gasket, o ring gasket under head gasket, half moons, anything else?

what does "NOS" mean? I know im gonna regret asking but oh well.

The GS850,1000 and 1100G's now all run the same OEM head gasket 11141-49410. They are 5 layer, MLS gaskets, with 73mm bores.

As said previously, check that your head and cylinder mating surfaces are true. If the head is damaged/cracked or warped, you can fit a later model 850 head to your engine, but you'll need to change the carbs too for this upgrade. ;)

Ok thanks so I'm looking only for parts that say Suzuki as Oem makes sense, I didnt see the other label.

OEM head gaskets are best. Athena gaskets, not so much.

I am pretty happy, so far, with the Cometic gasket that I used for my 850 conversion. I understand that Cometic supplies the gaskets that WiseCo uses in its conversion kits. If you have trouble finding an OEM gasket for less than a few body parts, you might look into these.

HTH

Cometic sucks, Athena sucks, and Vesrah used to be good, but now they suck too.

OEM only.

Trying to get all the necessary oem parts so I can get someone to put em in so it wont keep leaking.

so far I think I need head gasket , valve cover gasket, half moons, head gasket O ring , base gasket and possible O rings for the base gasket area. Any more Im missing. The rings are new btw.

ps thanks Nessism for your help.
