A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Ok , so I need a new head gasket, I have an 82 GS650 GL so this is part number 11140-34811. Ive located this at several stores and it says it is a set. I called a local store and they said they think this comes with a head gasket and a new valve cover gasket. I do not want the valve cover gasket because I want to order a rubber ne from Real Gasket Corp.
Does anybody know exactly what this part number entails? Im assuming its an entire gasket set for the engine, but I only need the head gasket.

Also, off topic. Im loking into buying a new seat, I was wondering if anybody knows if other year/model seats will fit correctly? for example I found a saddle seat off an 80 GS450 that looks like it will fit but I am not sure.....

A Real Gasket should not be used on the 650 because it's too thick to allow the tach gear (which is in the valve cover) from meshing properly with the worm drive on the exhaust cam.

As for gaskets, do NOT use an aftermarket gasket kit unless you do some research first and selectively replace a few of the critical gaskets with OEM. Base gaskets, cylinder base O-rings, and cam chain tunnel O-rings for example should always be OEM or you could get leaks.

Good advice on the rubber gasket, thanks.
The OEM number,11140-34811 , from what I can tell, that is the head gasket kit that has been superceeded by the original part number, 11141-34202.

So OEM part 11141-34202, has been replaced by 11140-34811. That is correct right?

Found similar here. Called dealer looking for base gasket and had an OEM 'set', aftermarket 'set' and aftermarket single base gasket. Still haven't bought yet, but given mine's the base gasket that needs replacing figuring might as well replace the rest while its apart....(someday!)

Go with Suzuki gaskets. Sometimes you can find deals on eBay. I bought alot of gaskets for my many rebuilds on eBay.
