A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

recently I went to turn my lights on and my headlight, and sedo/tach did not illuminate. when i turn the key, the neutral light and oil pressure light turns on but nothing else. the bike runs fine.. has a little trouble strarting with the electric start but other than that runs great. I checked fuses, the bulb, and loose wiring and nothing really has came up. Im still trying to learn the electrical on the bike so Im not by any means the best mechanic but Im trying to learn. I had a few people suggest either the battery or a bad ground. i think i can handle replacing the battery :) but if it is a bad ground how would you look for it and fix it? or any thoughts on what it could be? really appreciate any help!

If you think you have an electrical problem the follow the quick test (see my signature) and report the results.

What bike are we talking about? This will help us know more about your specific issue but here are some basic thoughts.

If you still have the glass tube fuses, use a test light or multimeter to verify if they are still good since they can break under the caps and not in the middle sometimes.
Check your grounds by placing your negative on the ground in question and checking at the battery and/or solenoid. I found when I had a bad ground that my voltages were different at the solenoid at the bad ground compared to the battery negative post.
Check your connector in the headlight bucket and make sure you are getting power there from the harness
One thing I did was to take a wire with a terminal on it and test the individual lights straight from the battery. This will rule out the end device but may not rule out the connector and harness. It will at least give you a starting point
