A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Headlight screw trivia...

Hi all,

The screws that are holding the headlight in the bucket on my bike are not the correct ones; the heads are too small - and they're kind of an Army green color.. I want to buy the correct ones, but I'm not paying $2.95 per screw, PLUS $2.95 for EACH of six washers, PLUS shipping from Suzuki Partshouse. That's ridiculous. This is one of those areas where I don't mind going with something from my local hardware store - as long as it looks like the OEM item. So does anyone know if these screws are supposed to be chrome, stainless steel, or Army green?

Thanks again,

Scott

OEM from Suzuki they wont be green, or stainless steel, might be chrome but more than likely just zinc plated. Thats my guess anyway ;)

Thanks for that response. I'm leaning towards stainless steel.

PO replaced mine with socket head capscrews in stainless.
Then they may have walked out the back door of the company he works for. They are all over the bike with stainless washers.
Nice looking but I'm not a fan of them in high load applications.
And an extra tool to have to carry around.

Keep in mind that some places (evidently Suzuki Partshouse is one of them) have a minimum charge for every part.

If you look at Parts Outlaw, you will find that the screws are $2.05, the lock washers are $0.99 and the other washers (actually a specially shaped item) are $1.29, for a total of $12.99. That is a savings of $13.56, which is more than the flat-rate shipping of $9.99 (I wish they would bring back the special rate for mentioning a discount code).

Yeah, it's still expensive, but it's for all the RIGHT parts.

.

You're a bad influence Steve. I was literally on my way out the door to go to the hardware store to buy "plain ole" SS parts, when your response showed up. You talked me into it. It kills me to pay $23.00 for 12 little items, but as you say, they're the right parts - and the expense only hurts once.

On my way to Stockbridge, MI for the 11th annual All Clubs Day (on the Suzuki, of course).
