DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Hello GS-Riders,

Glad to be on this board and herewith a short introduction of myself. Currently 54 years and having my on business. Happily living together and interested in travel, food, some sports and most of all riding the GS850G '81 with friends.

2 years ago I got the bike from my neighbour who had it hidden in his frontyard under a cover. It was just a shame he did nothing with it (he also had a HD fsxr police in the backyard) and I was looking for a project bike after several Kawasaki ZL900's . Those ZL900 Elimininators are great but unfortunately the engine is not strong enoug to last for a long time.

Rebulding the Suzuki GS850 G out of 1981 took 2 years before she was good enough to ride again. Still I notice some slight problems that might need attention but the feeling of riding this Suzuki is endlessly great!

Enjoy the summer and enjoy the GS life,

Rick / aka GS850G

Welcome to the site, Rick.
An excellent intro except for the lack of pics.
How about a before and after of the 2 year resto.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on getting your GS850G back on the road!

It is indeed a great bike that will give you much pleasure if you give it some love by doing the neglected maintenance.

All the information you need to get the remaining problems on your bike sorted out can be found on this site.

Ride safe!

WP_20170611_13_01_16_Pro_LI.jpgAfter 9 years back on the road again. The previous owner also gave me the GIVI cases as well as a Windjammer. Basically I prefer the bike naked :-)

Wow! nice looking bike after it's rebuild. I really like the looks of the bikes from your side of the pond. Oh, and by the way, welcome to the forum.

Is that the original paint colour and pattern? I don't think I've seen that combination before. Regardless, it looks great!

Is that a BMW tail rack you've managed to secure to the back of your bike?

Welcome to the site 8.50g. You seem to be a fun loving guy. I'm definitely enjoying the summer and the GS life! It sounds like you are too! Beautiful looking motorcycle by the way.👍

Welcome Netherlands man....Rick!

I saw this post earlier but wanted to wait for pics. Definitely remove those bags to reveal this beauty underneath!

Love the color scheme...and of course the backdrop of your country!

Let's do your bike justice with a size it deserves. Nice looking! You can't beat these GS shafts for durability. Welcome to the site.

You have done a great job on a bike that stood for 7 years! I also like the colour scheme. It is very similar to mine!

I am curious to know what the object I have marked with a yellow circle is? At first glance it looked like a steering stabilizer? [Hey, I marked the bigger photo, but now it has returned to small size again, sorry!]
