A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hey guys,

my name is Sven, 38 years old and I live in Germany. In the past I just read but now I have decided to register to this forum.
My ride is a modified GS 550E (?79). If you want to know more details about it don?t hesitate to ask.
I am just looking for some impressions of bike building in other countries.

Greetings

Looks great. The cafe guys from over here could sure take a few lessons from you over there.

Went to Bavaria last year. Saw a couple VStroms but never a cool machine like yours.

Welcome to the forum. Very nice looking bike. I bet it is a lot of fun to ride.

Hi Sven, welcome to GSR.

Your bike shows quality from the front to the back. Excellent work!

Very nice work, Sven!

Please show more photos of the instrument cluster, and tell us which forks you fitted.

Thanks for this nice welcome.
I appreciate that you like my bike. But it isn't that perfect as it seems at the pics. But nothing is perfect, isn't it?
That bike build wasn't as expensive as you might think. Only used parts, bought on a well-known auction platform (eb*y) for nice prices. In total maybe 1500,-? and the most expensive was the painting (550,-?).

The fork is a GSX-R1100 item ('89 , diameter 43mm) combined with Kawasaki ZZR1100 fork crowns (custom stem). Front breaks also GSX-R1100.
Instuments are speedo, air-fuel-meter, lamps for oil-pressure, high beam, turn signal and gear position. Also a 4"-LCD for the backsight camera. Pics with details are coming soon.

Sven

What kind of battery (surely not lead-acid)? And where is it?

Any idea how much she weighs?

Beautiful bike, which part of Germany? I go there all the time, I'd love to see it in person if you are in one of the places we usually go.

Great quality build! No hacking here... we could call her a hybrid, a bit of old and new. Love the rake, she has a nice stance and I bet shes a joy to ride. :excitement:

Weight of bike: app. 190kg with fuel

@tkent02

Rhineland-palatine near Koblenz. Do you know that? Where are you if you visit Germany?

@jbird7262

Oh yeah, it is definitely fun to ride. A litte bit of work to do at the fork / shocks (setup) and then it will be perfect.

Hi Sven77, welcome to the group!
Quick question.

What type of exhaust is that? Thanks in advance!

Yes, very wonderful bike.
I have saved a few pictures as I like it so much!

Hello. Welcome. I lived in Heidelberg for a couple of years. I loved Germany. The autobahn rocks!

That bike looks great and the quality of your work shines thru.
Mark me down as impressed.
