    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

First of all, I wanted to say thanks to the folks for creating this site! I have been searching for information on my new to me GS750E for a couple of months. I came across this site a couple of days ago and have found it to be very useful. So thank you!

I bought a 1981 GS750E a few months ago. It is mostly original sans the front tire and one of the levers. Only a little over 10k on the clock. It ran decent when I bought it but it would leak fuel pretty bad after it was shut off. So I rebuilt the carbs and just recently put them back in. Might tackle the petcock next as I couldn't tell if it was leaking from there or the carbs. Looking forward to getting this classic on the road to give my other horse a break.

About the unidentified gas leak: You havent left the petcock in the PRIme position, have you?

If it's leaking after shutoff I'd lean more toward petcock on newer equipment, but on bikes of this age carburetor work is not time wasted. Plan an oil change while you're at it. Fuel system issues, whether it be faulty petcock or leaking float system, have a nasty habit of filling the crankcase with fuel. Congrats on the new bike!!!

The only picture I have of it right now is from the night I brought it home. I'll definitely take more pictures once it's all back together. To be honest, it has been a few months so I don't remember what position the petcock was in.

Hello Red.

I pass through your town on occasion to visit my folks in Bakersville. Beautiful country out that way. I do plan on changing the oil. It also could use two new tires but the ones on there now seem ok for now. Just mismatched.
 
Welcome from the other side of the mountains. Congrats on the GS. & glad you found this place, hard to imagine a GS question that won't be answered here. Oh yeah, What's your other horse?
