A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

helmet mod

Nicely done. I've been wondering about doing the same thing.

Years ago when I started riding the helmet manufacturers strongly warned against any aftermarket decals being applied. That, presumably, was due to the glues used in the decals reacting with the helmet and in some way that could compromise the shell.

It looks to me like that may not be a problem anymore, although there still might be some issues with some of the plastic-y helmets on the market. Here's a link to an older, short blurb on the issue:

http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/N...rider-advice-Can-I-put-stickers-on-my-helmet/

That was the fruit of my 5 minutes in Google. I'd love to read more about it if anyone knows of a controlled study.

I have a hard time believing that a sticker will degrade the plastic on my helmet, barring any scientific study to the contrary.

Yes. I know, it's a minor thing, but it's cheap and makes the helmet much more visible, especially at night. I was inspired by Aerostich's Arrow Head Lane Change Indicators:

I found this reflective tape at Home Depot for about $4:

Did you have any problems getting it to fit the compound curves on the helmet ?

I messed it up a little on top of the helmet, so there are some bumps. I don't really care; the point is to make me more visible at night, and I think it accomplishes that :)

Good idea on the helmet, used that reflective tape on my skunk for the white stripe.Really pops at night.Put a small strip on the turn signal stalk also.

I did a similar thing on my helmet several years ago.

Started with a black full-face helmet. My Wing is basically blue and chrome (see picture in my sig), so I added blue and white stripes to the helmet.

Yeah, they are both reflective, too. :D

My next helmet will likely also be black, but will have two yellow stripes to match the two gold strips on "Junior".

.

Good helmet mod...I had done the same thing a few weeks back when I got my new helmet. I prefer the white helmet for visibility, but used the 3M reflective tape cut into squares and then in half to make triangles for a little decoration. The pic shows a couple as yellow but they do glow red, and you can see some pieces I put on the bikes too.
