All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I'm looking for a post that I started reading a while ago. There was some good information and I'd like to find it again, but after about an hour of searching I can't seem to find it. I believe it was titled "What makes new bikes feel so smoothe?" and the post was talking through the owner modifying his suspension one piece at a time to see what the cause was. I was hoping to read through it as I am looking to do my first modern suspension swap and just want to get some more information. Thanks

One of these might be what you're looking for: https://www.thegsresources.com/_for...Replace-GS1100E-anti-dive-with-550E-adjusters
https://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/showthread.php?252679-Front-end-upgrades
https://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/showthread.php?235025-Why-do-my-forks-knock-over-bumps

If the one you're looking for isn't one of these, I would look in the Suspension section. You might have to sort through a few pages in that section but something might ring a bell or you might find something more informative than you had seen before. Another area you might check is the Old Technical and the Popular Technical info forums.

Hope this helps.

Not exactly the posts I was looking for, but they do lead in the right direction. I've been back about 5 pages in every section and can't find it. I'm starting to wonder if I even saw it on this forum ...I know I saw it somewhere...I'm not old enough to be loosing my memory just yet

That reminds me of a thread on ADV rider where a guy was taking parts off his KLR and weighing them then posting the results each time. He was replacing heavy parts with lightweight ones or just eliminating them altogether trying to shed as much weight as possible.

I don't recall the suspension mod posts you're looking for. Sounds interesting though.
