A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hello All!

I have 1978 KZ650b with GPZ Cams, New Intake Boots, pingle fuel valve, New Gas Cap, rebuilt head/Bore, Dyna S, 4 into1, K&N Pods, Sparx Battery Eliminator (Reg/Capicitor).

Issue:
Bike starts easy (Kick only)....has strong power but I suspect still some jetting issues with the needle. Any who I ride the bike for about 10-15 minute...ton of power idles good no issues. The bike warms up and then it wont idle unless I stay on throttle. Bike will start up immediate no issues.... but in order to start I have to use throttle.

Could this be my float adjustment? Or possible carb sync issue? I benched sync the carbs to get close and then used a vacuum gauge from a VW (Snail style) to tune.....it was pulling roughly 3psi or 3kg/h .

Guage:

Thank you!

Methinks you might have clicked on the wrong bookmark. :-k

This is the Suzuki GS site, not the Kawasaki KZ Riders site. :-\\\

Set the idle after warm right?

Set the idle after warm right?

Your choke circuit is in play when cold.
Try setting your idle speed adjustment screw faster once its hot.

I thought a 4cyclinder was a 4cyclinder? I own 2 GS's so Im not too fond of the KZ Forums.

Thank you Rebuild guy....I have tried that but the bike idels to high...it works just not the fix.

I may try to adjust my sync settings where the slide is higher.

Thank you!

Vacuum sync then go from there. It's almost impossible to diagnose running problems on a bike that hasn't been properly maintained.

Thank you! The carbs are sync'd and the problem continues!!! I also have a ton of white smoke coming from the engine vent near the back of the motor.

Thank you!

If it runs good cold and bad when warm I would suspect your mixture is rich. Do you have to use no choke or very little choke to start it? If so, your mix is acting as your starting level, which is too rich when the motor is warm.

White smoke? White smoke would indicate water(?) in the system, black is too rich and blue is oil.
