Ok guys taking off the stator cover this fell out

i don't believe its from inside the motor being it threads onto the bolt which holds my highway bars, but being as that bolt threads straight into the block i want to be sure so.... can any one verify this does not go in the left side of the motor, i couldn't find it on the microfiche of the parts but you never know.

also the hole is threaded.

Please be aware that the bolt may be longer on one side than the other.
It is on mine and had I not taken note and installed it carefully I might have cracked the case open. Brest to fell your way and eyeball it first.

Oh and its a bitch to get one of these in place

my fix was to affix a popsicle stick with hot glue gun so I could get the tabe in place and thread in the bolt.

Checkout page 3-7 for the location of the alignment nut/stop. I think it'll make sense to you when you see the pictures.

I dont think that #25 part would be inside the stator cover.

THose are on the bolts that hold engine(and/or case guards) to frame.

Hi,

Yes, if that fell out when you removed the highway bars, it is just the odd shaped nut that goes behind that part of the frame when you bolt the highway bars on. It doesn't have anything to do with the stator cover itself. On my bike that bolt doesn't go into the motor. That bolt just goes through the frame mount and a thin part of the lower engine case, then fastens to that egg-shaped nut. It's kind of a pain to put back together too.
